The gantry-type grain-rehandling machine is a highly efficient core piece of equipment used in modern large-scale grain-storage facilities’ grain-processing centers for the loading, unloading, stacking, and transshipment of bulk grain. Its main structure consists of a massive steel gantry that spans across the grain pile; the gantry can travel longitudinally along ground-mounted rails, while the grain-rehandling arm mounted on the gantry can move laterally and adjust its height, thereby achieving full-coverage operation over the entire rectangular material-pile area.

This equipment uses circulating scrapers at the front end of the rake arm to continuously gather grain into the central receiving hopper, from which it is then uniformly discharged via a built-in conveying system, thereby achieving a highly efficient material-handling process with a low breakage rate. By reversing the operating sequence, it can also precisely stack incoming grain into neat, orderly piles. Compared with intermittent operations such as those performed by conventional loaders, the gantry-type grain-raking machine offers significant advantages, including continuous operation, a high degree of automation, large throughput, low power consumption, and reduced labor costs.

Its widespread application has significantly enhanced the level of mechanization and automation in grain circulation, making it a critical piece of technological equipment for ensuring the safety of national grain storage, reducing logistics losses, and improving operational efficiency.

 

1. Main structural components:

  • Gantry beam: The steel structure spanning the entire grain pile serves as the primary load-bearing and mobile framework for the equipment.
  • Traveling mechanism of the gantry crane: Located at the top of the gantry, it drives the entire machine to move back and forth along the longitudinal track of the load-bearing main girder.
  • Mobile grain-grabbing arm: A telescopic boom mounted on the upper part of the gantry traveling mechanism, capable of lateral movement along the girder. A material-scraping blade is installed at the front end.
  • Lifting mechanism: Control the lifting and lowering height of the grain-scraping arm so that it can either penetrate deep into the grain pile or be raised to clear obstacles.
     

2. Scope and Dimensions of Work:

  • Longitudinal working range (length L): The total travel length of the gantry along the track determines the length of the material yard that the equipment can cover.
  • Horizontal working range (width W): The maximum lateral travel range of the grain-retrieval arm along the gantry girder determines the usable retrieval width for a single grain pile.
  • Stacker-reclaimer height (height H): By raising and lowering the grain-handling arm, the equipment can handle the entire height of the grain pile, from ground level to the top. Workflow overview:
  • Through the combined motion of “longitudinal travel of the main carriage” and “lateral movement of the grain-scraping arm,” the material-retrieval head precisely traverses every cross-section of the grain pile, continuously and uniformly raking the grain toward the central discharge system, thereby achieving efficient, automated inbound and outbound operations.
